Heater / A/C blower motor works intermittently. When the vehicle is started it either works or it does not. Sometimes after driving a while the blower will start working. When it is not working, it will not work on any fan level setting or heat/vent/ a/c setting. Also when it is not working a periodic faint clicking sound can be heard from the passenger footwell area. I assume the blower motor and blower motor power pack is located in this area. When it works it functions without issue.

This appears to be an issue with older cherokee and grand cherokee models.

My thought process based on the issues with the older cherokees would be blower motor power pack. It seems to be electronic in nature due to the facts the blower works fine sometimes and other times it does not.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated

Been battling the same issue for a year now on 2015, had the resistor pack replaced and a few months later the blower motor and now seven month later the same issue are back with CEL B10ea and B10e9.

Lets keep posting our progress until we resolve our issues.

Oh also what's been working for me to get it on. I leave the panel off on the passenger side under the dash at end and side of console. I keep a hammer in the back seat and I tap on the blower motor with the back side of the wooden handle and it comes on after one or two taps.

Thanks Kori, I will definitely do that. Since I can get it on when it quits I'm waiting awhile for maybe other issues to arise. I have the life time warranty with the $100 per visit deductible.

Was there an update? Did you figure out a solution?

I've been fighting this for all 4 years I've owned my 2014 grand Cherokee. Also have the extended warranty. Just had another disappointing trip to the dealer. Wasted $175 on a rental car. They claim they applied a software update that fixes the problem. My symptoms are identical to the description in this thread. Hoping to have AC in Texas this summer. ?

The firmware update did not fix the issue. Already not working again. Did my own diagnostics and found the same fix as posted in this thread. 12V at the blower motor. If I tap the blower lightly it will start working. Talking to the service manager soon.

Hello 2014WK,

We understand this is rather frustrating and do apologize for the inconvenience. Before you go back into the dealer, feel free to let us know. We can get a case started and escalate for further handling.

Ive had the same issue with my 2015 Cherokee's trail hawk. I've taken it to the dealership many times and it still turns on amd off randomly. There should really be a recall for this since it's a known problem with many Jeep cherokees and we keep forking our money for this known issue.

Has anyone come to a solution on this issue? My 2014 TH just started with all of these symtoms after no issues in the past whatsoever. Currently have 76k on the odometer. Started noticing the blower alternating from low to high on a trip back from Mammoth and now it slowly cycles off completely after running for 10-15 minutes or so. Like others in the thread have mentioned, when it's running its cold air but then slowly shuts down.

So took my truck to the dealer earlier this week and sure enough I had a blown blower motor and module needed to be replaced. They also had an update to the HVAC computer software that was taken care of. Unfortunately it set me back $660.00 but in the California desert we thrive on our AC so I had to bite the bullet.

Seems a bit heavy for an $80 part that book time is 0.7 to replace.

Yikes ..! I had my blower motor replaced under warranty last winter, so the paperwork did not show costs (dealers keep that particular claim paperwork separate). Would you mind sharing the details on that $660 charge ? I know some aftermarket blowers come with the module included, not sure about the Mopar unit. When they replaced my motor, I had told them about a check engine light I got, with codes relating to the blower motor, so they flashed it per a TSB that came out a while back, though my problem was unrelated to that TSB. No idea how much such a flash would cost outside of warranty...

My 2015 Trailhawk is having the issue also. Has been happening off and on now for about a year. I will be doing the replacement work myself. I'd like to hear from others that have done the work themselves as to the hiccups associated with the work. Thanks, aside from this...love my Trailhawk!

I am having the same problem with the blower motor working intermittently. It may last a week or a few minutes. The dealership never seems to find anything wrong. I have found a solution that seems to get it started again. By opening the cabin air filter door the blower motor will start working again. I cannot explain why it works it just does. Pneumatic pressure lock similar to a vapor lock? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there, and welcome to the forum !
Just curious : is it winter (and cold) where you are right now ? I'm asking because there is one potential problem in winter I've had on mine : the air intake, located under the passanger side wiper can get packed with ice and jam the squirrel cage (blower). This winter, I've had the blower not work some days and the blower did not appear to be stuck in ice, but I think the motor shaft was frozen ; I got it going again after a short stay in a heated garage. Last time it happened, I also used a hair dryer and removed all traces of ice down in the cowling (aiming through the air intake below wiper). Maybe... when you opened the air filter trap door, you allowed the motor shaft to get warmed up ? It's been a cold and long winter here, and I haven't had a problem for a few weeks, after I removed (melted) all that ice.
Just a possibility...

I have the same thing occurring to me. Has anyone found a solution? Doesn't sound like replacing parts or software updates have helped.
